8 Tips to Supercharge Your Metabolism To Get Skinny

By: Cennet Julia Tezgel

Most people assume that slimmer people will have a higher metabolism, but that is not true. People who are bigger need a higher metabolism because they require more energy as they have a bigger heart and organs for example a big car requires more fuel compared to a small care.

Slimmer individuals would see that they have less body mass to support; weight loss can result in a decline in metabolic rate and result in finding it hard to lose weight and get stuck in the plateau cycle.

What is the metabolism?

The metabolism is a very essential and useful function of your body. The metabolism is a process where our cells break down food in a chemical reaction, and this is what breaks it down into energy in order for our bodies to complete vital function such as the digestion of food, transferring nutrients to energy and necessary functions such as breathing and heart rate.

It can also be broken down into two categories:

  • Catabolism - the breakdown of molecules to obtain energy
  • Anabolism - the synthesis of all compounds needed by the cells

The big question is, how do we improve it? Our metabolism can be improved in a number of all natural and healthy ways that I will share. Follow these tips and you will boost your metabolism in no time.

8 tips to get your metabolism on fire:

1. Never Skip a Meal

Reducing calories for weight loss can be a good strategy, however by skipping out on a meal to “save calories” is not going to work as a sustainable way to keep the fat off. Start your day with eating breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, and dinner and night snack. Of course with healthy good nutritious food sources, it will all be in favour of keeping the weight down but allowing your metabolism to speed up. With your body adjusting to the continuous intake of food it will help to keep your body functioning and not store any fat.

2. Build Muscle By Lifting Weights

“The human body naturally burns more calories each day to maintain a pound of muscle than it does to maintain a pound of fat. Therefore, the more muscle you build, the more calories your body will naturally burn each day at rest.” - http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/does-building-muscle-burn-fat/

Muscle burns fat, which means metabolism can be increased if muscle mass is higher. Begin with weight training and you will see the fat melt off. And to the ladies, don’t be afraid of the weights its impossible to get bulky, us woman don’t have hormones like men, we will look leaner, and see the fat fly off with weight training.

    3. Drink more Herbal Tea

Herbal teas like Skinny teatox can really help with your goal to get healthy. But get into lots of different 100% natural herbal teas - it doesn't just have to be a teatox. But I bet you are all wondering, but how can herbal tea increase your metabolism? Herbs contained within many teas can aid in metabolizing food, also herbs are known to help improve the way fat cells respond to sugar. They improve the fat cells sensitivity to insulin allowing us to process them better in digestion and all this is the function related to our metabolism.

      4. Face the Cold Weather

The more energy your body needs to maintain basic bodily functions, the higher your metabolism will be. What this means is as we need to constantly regulate the core temperature of our bodies at 37 degrees Celsius and if we hit a cold temperate, your body will extend more energy to heat up. We are making our bodies work hard for essential functions of maintaining body temperature; this can improve the rate of metabolism. You can do this by exercising in the cold weather to increase the amount of bad fat that is burned, drink ice-cold water and try taking a cold shower a couple times a week.

        5. Stay hydrated

Our body depends on water; our chemical reaction that includes our metabolism cannot function without water. We lose water every day so we need to replenish and avoid dehydration. If you are dehydrated our metabolism cannot function the way it should causing it to slow down keeping the fat on hold too. It is recommended to aim to drink around 8 glasses of water a day for the average individual, you should always consider your weight/height and intensity level of exercise when estimating your daily water intake.

        6. Caffeine can be beneficial for our metabolism

It seems to be true that caffeine is a stimulant to rev up our metabolism to burn more calories. According to the Japanese study where researchers have found the antioxidant catechins that are in caffeine can provide the boost. Add in some tea or coffee in your day but remember to avoid the added calories of sugar and cream!

        7. Spice it up

Capsaicin is the heat from hot peppers, which is believed to boost our metabolism. It can be linked to the change of temperature our body would work more to cool down, you may even notice sweating when your have spice on your meal, sweat shows your metabolism is on fire as you are trying to cool down your core temperature.

        8. Kick up your exercises routine with HIIT interval workouts

HIIT training is beneficial all round to increase our speed, power, endurance and metabolic rate, which will help to burn fat faster. With HIIT training it can be less that 20 minutes of quick burst of intense cardio and even the addition of weights. In regards to hours of the treadmill or long endurance activities could actually cause muscle catabolism. Muscle catabolism is the breakdown of tissues of the muscle; less muscle means a lower metabolic rate.

In addition, according to www.shape.com metabolic rate tips, they mention that HIIT training increase the human growth hormone known to help increase calorie burn and reduce the aging process. This exercise tip has defiantly won me over; quick intense intervals will save hours at the gym and overall help to scorch of the calories even at rest, whist revving up your metabolism for the long run.
