5 Flat Belly Foods to Start Eating Today

Whether you are just wanting to reduce stomach bloat or want a flat belly to look better, there are certain foods which promote a flat stomach more than others.

Consume these foods regularly as part of your weight loss plan and Skinny Teatox regime to help you reach your goals:

1. Fermented foods

The name of the game with fermented foods is healthy bacteria! Fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, kefir, kombucha and kimchi have naturally occurring probiotics, which are good types of bacteria required for healthy gut function.

Your gut contains millions of bacterium, both good and bad, and it is important for it to have a higher population of healthy bacteria. These bacteria are necessary for proper digestion and elimination, the removal of toxins, cleansing and production of certain vitamins.

Furthermore, when you have an overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria, these bacteria produce their own waste and gas which can lead to bloating and further toxins within the digestive tract, as well as contribute to constipation and poor elimination.

2. Lemon

Although this food is acidic, it has an alkalinizing effect on the body and can be very helpful in reducing bloat or stomach discomfort. Consuming warm water with half a lemon first thing in the morning is a great way to gently awaken the digestive system and to aid in removing any residual toxins that may remain from the day before or from digestive and cleansing processes which your body performs overnight. These built up toxins can lead to bloating or excess weight, making it hard for you to achieve your weight loss goals and maintain the flat belly which you may be after.

3. Sea vegetables

Although you may have only ever heard of Nori and consumed it wrapped around rice in the form of sushi, there’s a heap more of sea vegetables that you should be adding to your diet. High in iodine and antioxidants, seas vegetables are a great food to eat to promote thyroid health. The thyroid is a major gland found near your throat, which is responsible for helping maintain proper energy levels, and promotes proper metabolism function. Having a healthy metabolism means your body is able to properly process calories and food, creating the energy you need, but not storing excess calories or leading you to eat too much. Aim to have sea vegetables 2-3 times per week, including things such as nori, spirulina, kelp and chlorella.

4. Green leafy vegetables

If there’s one thing that you should definitely increase in your diet, it’s green leafy vegetables. Whether it’s kale, spinach, swiss chard or silver beet, all of these greens are incredible high in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin K, your B vitamins, magnesium, calcium and iron, just to name a few and are great cleansers for the body. Furthermore, they are rich in fiber, helping to move food through the digestive system, reducing bloating and removing toxins. All of these combined effects help aid in weight loss and help you achieve your flat belly goals.

5. Pineapple

This lovely tropical fruit contains an enzyme called bromelain, which helps digest plants. Given that you will be increasing your consumption of plants, such as leafy greens and sea vegetables, increasing your consumption of pineapple to facilitate proper digestion is important. With low levels of enzymes, the food will not be properly broken down, preventing you not only from absorbing the nutrients and the beneficial cleansing benefits, but also causing the food to sit in your stomach and putrefy which leads to bloating, indigestion and has the opposite effect of flat belly foods that you are after.
